Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Strategy is at the forefront of the GGMS service offering, and as such, our dedicated team are always looking to effectively utilise and expand on their existing network of over 5000 UK Charities!

Through working on a clearance project in Edinburgh, GGMS were contacted by SocialBite to see whether we could support their cause through the utilisation of our successful nationwide donations programme. Immediately, the team set about identifying assets that were suitable for re-use and made sure the charity received everything they needed.

Social Bite have been partnering with Glasgow Night Shelter, a charity that is trying to provide comfortable, dignified accommodation to people in Glasgow experiencing destitution whilst in the asylum system. Their previous facility provided 20 bunk beds within one room, without any washing facilities. Social Bite has assisted in furnishing and renovating a building, acquired by Glasgow Night Shelter. The new building will allow 20 people their own room, their own bathroom and the autonomy and privacy that goes with it. The accommodation also provides communal spaces and offices for staff.

“The donation of sofas, chairs and lockers from GGMS have been really useful in providing comfort as well as safety. These two things are crucial for running an effective and useful service.”

SocialBite’s Communication to GGMS on 09/08/2020

I am really happy to announce today that the first 15 people will be moving into the new Glasgow Night Shelter Accommodation. The building represents a dramatic change for how people experiencing destitution in Glasgow will be accommodated.

Over 300 hours of volunteering time was given and 16 separate organisations contributed time and resource.

I would like to personally thank you for the part you played in making this day happen and hope that you are proud of the contribution you made to making a real difference in people’s lives.

It is hugely appreciated by me, the Glasgow Night Shelter team and most importantly the people that now have a comfortable, dignified place to live.
